    Bo,

    Friendy, but exasperated accusations ?
Yeah, sorry, but it had to be said to get your attention, but there is
no hint of sarcsam or irony when I say your credentials command
respect, and I am genuinely perplexed that you can't see why me, Paul
and Squonk (and others) can't accept your proposed SOL.

    BUT, specifically ...

I'm not defening poor old Bob, I'm defending the germ of sense in his ideas.
Yes, of course I see the LOGIC violation in the recursion, but GOF
logic is far from adequate for a metaphysics of reality (see the Paul
/ Scott thread, and previous Hofstadter references)
Yes I agree, that we must encapsulate GOF SOMism / SOL ideas inside
the MoQ, I'm just saying it is wasteful to give up the whole of the
intellectual level to this ancient outmoded inadequate idea. Human
intellect is better than that. (We can make it better than that.)

Which is why, in short, I agree with you about the problem (in the
intellectual level) but not with your proposed SOMist Level 4
    solution.

Great exchange by the way - I think we're hitting the crux of the
issue between us, read my response carefully.

    Ian
