Sounds like Campbell and Nasafi are saying almost the exact same thing.
As for Pirsig, I also don't think of Quality as a "pattern". Given the date
of the afterword, I'm not sure if he's yet using the term "pattern" in the
LILA sense of the word. But the static/Dynamic split predates ZMM itself
(according the chronology described in LILA). So I think you're reading
which treats the overall interaction of sq and DQ (or I guess of any
metaphysical cleave of Quality) as a pattern itself is probably just about
right in this case.

wrong... As he later learned, "Phaedrus" is really THE LIGHT!!!!
