Rick, Dan, Phyllis,Pirsigs "life is that which has been configured by DNA" is necessary but not sufficient for a definition of life under the standards set by SOM. But Struan's very "dead" cat might be an example of life according to the MOQ standards! Remember that Pirsig never thought the larger pattern of his son was dead even after he went up the crematorium chimney. People should start thinking outside the SOM box when they reads statements by Pirsig.
