Dear Johnny, DMB, Wim, et al.,
“Even emancipation from slavery does not bring freedom, it just exposes the
former slave to new sets of static patterns that he must adjust to. “Johnny
Moral.
Johnny:You have some fine ideas but this one is indefensible! True freedom
comes in dynamic form, it’s pre-choice, it sets down the choices, it creates
the freedom and statically latches it for everone to enjoy until a higher
quality dynamic comes along to replace it. The better the static patterns
are the closer they are to dynamic reality: freedom increases “in moving
away from mechanistic patterns of value”Surely, you appreciate the
difference in quality of freedom within the two sets of static patterns
affecting your slave!
The freedom to choose between two static patterns, is not as valid as the
freedom we possess to chose a dynamic response. DMB & Wim: we are most free
when Dynamic - I like you both. Once, I believed there to be only two
answers to a yes/ no question. Once I believed truth was singular with no
capacity to be parallel. I have become more dynamic I have become freer, I
have moved away from these static patterns of value, into a more wide
ranging and valid static pattern of value which is highly adaptive to
dynamic change - The MOQ
“Create your own system or be enslaved by another man’s”William Blake.
“I don't believe that we have to surrender our freedom to the service of
higher level patterns that attempt to manipulate us.”Johnny Moral.
Biological we may be but we have the capacity to be Intellectual, thus we
simultaneously are manipulated by and can manipulate ‘the Giant’. We
surrender less than before, with SOM; here in the MOQ we are a whole new
poke in the eye for ‘the Giant’. More power to our elbow, poke away friends
!
Certain effects of the Giant are negative, perhaps because the development
is too fast in certain areas and during the period which the static nature
of the dynamic pattern is developing we fail to understand it, (possibly
even using it incorrectly so that it hurts us) Perhaps we fail to understand
because it’s still too dynamic and the benefits are seen only by the
patterns creators . In that interim period we suffer, and that suffering
forces us to appreciate the quality of the new pattern - in effect to learn.
Our compliance in the static pattern is what makes it real, until we accept
it, it is still dynamic, it’s still cutting edge. A certain level of
understanding has to develop before the pattern transists. Transition is
working at about an average of 50 years from academic to mainstream
understanading.
“I like to think that we choose who [or what ] we think is higher
quality.”Johnny Moral
I like to believe that too!
I have begun, as have many of you, to make that change that Pirsig points
out in Lila is down to you. The change where everything starts with you! The
power to do Good is in your hand. I can only touch the people around me I am
no leader of a commuity, or institution, my reach is not far, but the
quality of the response within my reaches is phenomenal. I am a member of a
community and within that community, I can effect changes for the better,
changes that without the analytical framework of the MOQ it may have taken
me much longer to see, I may never have understood some without it, or may
never have had the passion to start at all. Sometimes doing nothing is
best, action for your own selfish interest, or reaction to bad patterns can
foster resistance to change, by making people unresponsive to Good, as one
MOQer recently said “preferring to prefer what they don’t actually prefer”I
have become aware that the benefits of the MOQ are best passed off as common
sense, people’s stubborn dislike for an analytical framework by which to
make high quality decisions is obvious. The definition matters none, it’s
introduction of the pattern which is of prime importance. I believe in ‘the
death of the author’ – knowing the source colours the information without
knowledge of the source we process the information without distortion!
I am encouraged by the way I understand, my duty toward myself to be better,
has already bred duty towards others: For this I thank all involved,
including yourselves.
“Duty towards self breeds duty towards other” (Lao Tzu)
One gripe to finish : “I preceed morality because I choose whether to follow
it or not. “August West
We are having trouble with the definition of the word morality, can we stick
to morality = value = quality, and not talk too much about the SOM morality
(which is subordinate to quality and subordinate to subject), or individual
levels of MOQ morality without specifying which level, sometimes it can be
intuited, but sometimes it’s ambiguous and crucial to the point the MOQer is
making.

I wish I felt no need for respect - I could be so much more effective!
