Johnny,

I'm not saying that "everything can be said to escape history", I'm saying that there's no need for that disclaimer about being stuck in history, as living a life and experiencing things is only possible when being stuck in history, when being stuck in subject/object. So it goes without saying, and in fact makes no sense if you do say it, because it implies that there might be some way that one could not be stuck in history.
Matt:
I'll give you a context in which it makes sense to assert contingency: a philosophical community that contends that we can escape history. That community still exists and many other lay people still think we can. And I don't think it would ever be incoherent to add "but only in the context you and I are stuck in" to "I believe x is true." In a culture that has thoroughly made the contingent turn it would simply be redundant, a superfluous, trivial, and obvious remark that would just clutter up our speech.
