    Bo, Scott and y'all:

    Bo said:
"I simply can't understand the annotating Pirsig about the MOQ being a
pattern of its own intellectual pattern" ... "Even Pirsig of LC seems to
have joined the chase." ... "...the next fallacy. Calling the MOQ an
    intellectual pattern."

    Scott replied:
On the one hand, the MOQ is a set of static intellectual patterns (those
expressed in the book LILA), or it is ... what? ........................
I am also not convinced that SOL is the precise right term for the fourth
    level.

    dmb says:
I think its pretty clear that both SOM and the MOQ are 4th level patterns,
intellectual descriptions. In the middle of chapter 22, Pirsig writes...

"...the MOQ SUPPORTS this dominance of intellect over society. ... But
having said this, the MOQ goes on to say that science, the intellectual
patten that has been appointed to take over society, has a defect in it."

Then at the beginning of chapter 24, he continues with the same issues...

"But what the larger intellectual structure ofthe MOQ makes clear is that
this political battle of science to free itself from domination by social
moral codes was in fact a MORAL battle! It was the battle of a higher,
intellectual level of evolution to keep itself from being devoured by a
    lower, social level of evolution."

There are probably lots of better examples, but hopefully you see the point.
He is refering to SOM as an intellectual pattern, even if it is one with a
defect, and then he refers to the MOQ as a "larger intellectual structure".
Clearly, Pirsig thinks they are both intellectual level constructs. No
problem. At this point Bo might be tempted to assert once again that he
understands the MOQ better than Pirsig. No offense old friend, but with
respect to understanding the MOQ I'm going to pick the author every time.
