As one example of the way that Platt "engages" his philosophical enemies:
"Seems whenever Rorty supporters are challenged, they adopt a Rigel-like attitude. Disappointing to say the least. I think it also says something about the shallowness of Rorty's philosophy, and postmodernism in general."
That is about as invalid an inference as possible. The most Platt could infer is that Andy and I are shallow.
The extreme moves from particular to general make engagement with such an opponent ridiculous and pointless. Such interlocuters are not interested in engagement and exploration, they are interested in a very simple form of defamation.
