I don't know why, but it seems necessary to repeat once again Pirsig's
observation about "lessening cruelty and suffering in the world:"
"If you eliminate suffering from this world you eliminate life. There's
no evolution. Those species that don't suffer don't survive. Suffering
is the negative face of Quality that drives the whole process." (Lila,
chp 29)
Those of liberal persuasion should take note.
