Yea, I have a book written by Barry Stevens (I think) and titled "Don't Push
the River". I really like the title. Kind of like: "Don't just do
    something, sit there!".

The other Dan said something about being Catholic and that has been an
important foundation for me. Yet, like everyone, I explorer and question
    almost everything.

At some level, we die and are reborn every fraction of a second as we
regenerate cells, place ourselves in different surroundings, do different
things, think different thoughts and after our heart stops, then what we
become is really an open question and isn't very relevant to now. Dynamic
Quality is more as long as there is existence (however we define that) and
Static Quality seems only to support existence and opportunities for Dynamic
    Quality. Did I say ONLY?!

Someone said that there are three types of people: the Dumb Crazy, the
Smart Crazy, and the Living Dead.

Let's hear it for being Smart Crazy!

Hi Dan (what a nice name!)

I of course cannot answer for Mr. Pirsig but perhaps he might say something
like "Just sit and let the grass grow by itself." This isn't to say you
should just sit there doing nothing. To sit is to be mindful, to cultivate
awareness. To let the grass grow by itself is to refrain from making the
world into what you think it should be. And when you stray from the path
just bring yourself back to center without beating yourself up over it.

    Dan
