Wim,

I must confess that I sympathize with Matt K.'s assessment (8 Dec 2003 18:49:34 -0600) of the quality of your posting even if I would not generalize it into '[all] Squank's messages hardly need to be replied to at all. They are so silly as to be bascially ignorable.' Some of your messages DO make sense and constructively contribute in my experience.
Matt:
I actually agree with you Wim. The messages that don't need to be replied to are his empty ones, the ones that tell you to "piss off." I was amazed a while back that, after Squonk had first attacked me after my "Confessions" post, he wrote something that I agreed with, quite wholeheartedly in fact. Many times I agree with the sensibility that Mark, Platt, and DMB bring to the MoQ, which is why their violent responses to me have made it difficult to find common ground.
I counseled everyone who had a violent reaction to me to not read my posts. This site is, after all, optional. Squonk did take my advice for a long time. I'm glad to see that he's taking it again.
Matt
p.s. In my mind, I split Mark up into three personalities: Mark, Squonk, and Squank. Mark is the thoughtful one that has many good insights into thinking about Pirsig. Squonk is the one that tells people, without any real argument, that they have "it" wrong (whatever "it" happens to be at the time). Squank (the helpful moniker supplied by Andy) is the one that tells people to "piss off" after he tries running them out of town.
