Hi Mark and Steve
While you're reading some Kerouac, his "The Dharma Bums" has much to say
about "It" and is a great read for those interested in American Zen in
the fifties. It chronicles the relationship between the "static,"
traditional Buddhist narrator Ray (Jack Kerouac) and his "Dynamic," Zen
Lunatic friend Japhy (Gary Snyder). It was with this book that my
interest in Zen Buddhism actually started, and it was through further
reading about Zen that I was led to ZMM.
Cheers
Paul
