Dear Steve,

'The US was the first country that was not built upon "us v. them" mentality

In my experience this idea is part of the 'USA is the greatest
nation'-political correctness that seems to be shared by both liberals and
conservatives in the USA.
Since the first intellectual pattern of value came in to being EVERY group
(participating in the intellectual level) was NOT ONLY built upon "us versus
them" social patterns of value, BUT ALSO on 'evident truths'.
I hold it to be evident that the USA is partly built upon a 'we uphold
freedom' versus 'them have to be freed' mentality.
With friendly greetings,
Wim
