If it can be shown to number happy SOMers that values are real by
convincing them of the applicability of their beloved number to values,
then I don't see how our cause can be hurt. MOQers are convinced that
values are "as real as rocks," but 99 percent of the public (a number I
pulled out of thin air) still believe values are entirely subjective--
solely in the eye of the beholder. If it can be shown in the aggregate
that individual evaluations can be numerically assessed so as to arrive at
a point of unbiased certainty, similar to what life insurance actuaries
do, I don't see the harm.
