    Hi

Matt recently suggested that he would not particularly
like to see everyone become more philosophically sophisticiated.
I would. And Pirsig would be a good starting point.
I think that examining the big questions leads inevitably to
philosophy and religious thinking. A life unexamined (cosmically)
is a less full and worthwhile life. So I suggest philosophy for all.
I think philosophy has been good for my mental health and attitude to
life, my adaptation to all of life's contingencies, my ability to argue and
    examine
problems in a full and non-shallow way, etc. Mind you I also recommend
some science, history, literature, etc. But let's do more philosophy in
schools etc if we can, so many non-philsophy students seem to be lost
in a flood of information they have no tools for evaluating. Do we agree
    with this
or not. Mind you there is a lot of bad SOM philosophy that may keep you
    floating on the shallow surface.

    regards
    David M
