Hello all,

I would agree with this. To put it in another prospective, this whole
'argument' has been a debate over whether or not musical quality or
sentimental qualities are equal to each other, or if one is more important
than the other.
This is not to say that artists such as beethoven are not as emotional as
Brittany spears, but it is more relevant for the teens because they can
_easily_ identify with it. Beethoven just requires the higher intellect (I
believe) to understand those emotions in all of their depth. However, I am
not excluding anyone from understanding the emotional aspects of Beethoven's
music, based on the fact that they are not as intellectual. It is just
easier for them to listen to other sources.
But it is impossible to gauge emotional significance, since it is purely
subjective.
I do have a question though. Would you say that the quality of the emotions
in either music differs?
I think so.....but thats just me ;)
What do you think?
