First, how can one ascertain quality or anything else "non-subjectively?"
Ideas, including facts, are always subjective whether we admit it or not.
From Pirsig: "Scientists often forget that all scientific knowledge is
subjective knowledge . . ." (LC, Note 59)
Second, would you really want to claim that there's no quality difference
between a Vermeer painting and a framed urinal? If all tastes are equally
valid because "beauty is in the eye of the beholder," that's the absurd
position I think you need to defend.
