    Johannes -

In America, when a person is called a "liberal" what is meant is that he is
to one degree or another a socialist and is most likely a Democratic Party
supporter. A "conservative" in America is likely a Republican. Of course,
the connotation is that the conservative is hopelessly hidebound, if not a
    reactionary.

In reality, the terms are practically meaningless. The difference
politically between Republicans and Democrats is not much, really. The
real - and much more important -discourse has less to do with party than
with worldview, and most of the combatants don't know it.

    Wim -

Begging pardon, but politics plays a role in every group;-) If you don't
    believe me, read the archives.

The levels are discrete, but interactive. All levels are active at all
times. Which level is ascendant at any given time is constantly in flux.
Furthermore, within the macro-society, micro-societies may exist - indeed,
florish - with altogether different POV's.

The biological level is dynamic and needs controlling by the social level. A
breakdown in the social level and you get chaos - biological patterns of
behavior run amok. The intellectual level is constantly at odds with the
social level because it is restrictive of intellectual freedom. When the
intellectual level is ascendant and has broken the control of the social
level, the social level is then in flux, with all the attendant problems. I
think is is in accordance with the MoQ, if rather simplistically stated.

You say that "'us versus them' behaviour, is a relatively low quality social
    pattern of value anyway,
    lower than cooperative behaviour."

I say that isn't necessarily the case.

    Peace to you all,
    Don

VBSEG is an acronym for "very big shit eating grin." It basically means that
I was being a smartass - not totally serious.
