    DMB had said:
I'm only suggesting that people who know HOW to think are less prone to
irrationality. I'm only suggesting there is a link between the quality of
education and the level of irrationality within a culture. Is that really
    even debatable?

    Platt replied:
DMB suggests there is only one right way to think. I presume he means to
think like him. So yes, it's debatable if "quality education" means teaching

DMB's right way of thinking. Pirsig makes it clear that it is often the
insane, irrational loners who appear degenerate, like the brujo, who move
    evolution forward.

    dmb says:
Only one right way to think? That's exactly what I was arguing AGAINST.
Baptist preachers and politicians are famous for telling people WHAT to
think, not HOW to think. If you knew HOW to think, for example, you'd be
able to see that there is a HUGE difference between the irrationality of
religious and ideological conformists on one hand and the culture-bearing
contrarians like Pirsig and the Brujo on the other. In fact, they are
    approxiamtely opposite.

See what happens when you try to argue against the obvious? In your
over-eager rush to disagree you've not only demonstated your
anti-intellectual attitude once again, you've also presented a weak and
    irrational argument.

Nothing is better than Platt's posts. I mean it would be better to have
nothing at all than to have Platt's posts.

    Thanks,
    dmb
