Hi Marsha,
I think your last post was directed at Mark M, not me, but I'd like
to comment anyway.
Please feel free to contribute in any way you please, whenever you
please. All of us here come on like we really know what we are
talking about but this is just a gimmick, really, a way of
stimulating discussion and yes, disagreement, so that, maybe, through
time, we will approach higher levels of understanding.
I agree with your description of the American government as
dysfunctional. But it's not JUST the American government. There are
many dysfunctional institutions both inside and outside American
society, I believe there is value in the discussions we have here,
because the only way I see to make things better is to come to some
understanding of why things are the way they are.
This is why the free flow and interaction of ideas is so important.
We can change nothing without popular support; we cannot gain popular
support unless we can be persuasive. We cannot be persuasive about
solutions to problems if we don't even understand the problems
themselves.
Anyway, thanks very much for your beautiful contribution. I hope to
read more.
Best Wishes,
Mark Steven Heyman (msh)
