    Dear Platt,

I think you've gotten the wrong idea about Chomsky. He does argue for freedom.

I was over forty before someone suggested I read the Communist
Manifesto. I was so scared someone would see me actually touching such a
foul book. My curiosity is often bigger than my fear so I bought and read
    the book.

What a shock!!! Marx had written an economic treatise. It was very
logical and well presented. I felt great anger towards all those who had
misguided me. My Culture lied to me. The very air I breathed growing up
insinuated Marx was very evil. Well the book wasn't written by the
devil. It was just a bunch of words. I felt like such a fool. Communism
might look interesting on paper, but it doesn't seem to work! For that
matter, Capitalism doesn't seem to work very well either. It's always
power and greed that seems to win.

Chomsky is a very respected scholar in his field. Yes, his politics is
extreme. His truth can be biting and painful. He reveals and documents
Western propaganda, lies told to us, hidden agendas. Propaganda told so we
    don't question our leaders.

Reading Chomsky is healthy. I don't hang on his every word. But when
things really begin to stink, he is there with some interesting and well
documented information. It definitely makes for better informed citizens.

    That's my little tale.

    With respect,

    MarshaV
