MSH,
Thanks! for the welcome...
I see where I went wrong on one thing....
>No need to apologize. Ok, sure. Paternalism is for real, if by
>"paternalism" you mean a privileged elite has the power and wealth to
>run the country. In that case, it's more than alive and well in the
>USA as well. And Canada. Any European country. In fact, just about
>any nation-state I can think of.
Yeah, but WAY beyond that...
Paternalistic Economy is a defined category
and I failed to make sure we were on the
same page...my bad
Essentially it is one step removed from
Royalty/Nobility ownership in a feudalistic
society.
~"We educated Spaniard families will take
control of all the country's resources in the
name of progress and for the good of all our
little darker skin brothers. We can teach them
how to work and train them and someday they
can do it for themselves."~ Sort of a Whiteman's
Burden in economics. Except EVERYONE
swallowed it hook, line, sinker, motor, and boat.
Not what we would normally think of as high
quality...
thanks--mel
