    Hi David

Reminds me of the bootmaker story in the forum Platt recommended to the
group a while ago. Those were really good boots. Couldn't hardly wear them
out. Forever is a long time though. The store I go to has long-lasting
lightbulbs; I don't buy them; they cost too much. If they lasted forever
though, I might be sorely tempted to buy a few even if they did cost more.
My luck being what it generally is though I would end up dropping them on
    the way home.

The MOQ endorses Buddhism, which teaches us that everything is temporal --
all the people you know, all your friends and family and associates, they
will all be dead in a hundred years. So will you. So will I.

If someone could make a lightbulb that lasted forever, why a religion might
spring up around it in a thousand years. Oh I'm sure of it. I'd even
consider coming back as a billy goat to see it. That or a pole-cat, I can't
decide right now. I have a while to think about it. In ten thousand years
the lightbulb might be venerated as a god. People may travel tens of
millions of light years just to get a glimpse of it -- to bath themselves in
its healing light. In a hundred thousand years the lightbulb will be God
without doubt. We'll have searched the universe over and have found nothing
anywhere like that lightbulb that lasts forever. In a million years an
archaeologist anteater might dig up the lightbulb still glowing in its
reliquary and wonder what all the fuss had been about.

Then again the darned thing will probably burn out right when I have to go
    to the bathroom really bad.

    Dan
