Thanks for the information. I'm glad to find that this error was corrected in the UK hardback edition in the way that I had suspected the sentence should be phrased. I think it will therefore be corrected in any future US editions of LILA.

This is how this sentence is phrased in the original UK hardback edition of LILA on page 309. As far as I remember, some other minor errors were corrected in this edition.
