I think you've already answered your own question. There can be no such
thing as "before" time so the question is meaningless.

It's a conundrum but I think that's only because our humble brains cannot
conceive nothingness, or because we are so hypnotised by our intellectual
patterns of value that we insist that everything must behave according to
cause and effect relationships. Dynamic quality began with space-time and
that's all there is to it. There was no "cause" and no "before".
