Hi Struan
I always enjoy reading the well thought out posts you choose to submit
to moq.org though I don't always agree with you. Yet increasingly I find
that to be completely irrelevant. Maybe it's an outgrowth of my unspoken
presence in editing the archives... can't say for sure though. Glad I
could help make your train ride more profitable for us all, for by
sharing your thoughts, whether you or any of us see it or not, it
profits the MOQ.
I only have a couple comments on your response to the letter Bodvar so
graciously shared with the group. First, Robert Pirsig did answer the
question concerning why there is evidence to believe Quality equals
reality. "By the harmony it produces." It seems to me that you subscribe
to that point of view yet make a claim everyone who is anyone does so
and everything Pirsig writes is so obvious to them as to be boringly
irritating.
As usual, you are probably just as right in that charge as the one of
emotivism (and I believe Pirsig has already agreed that's so) yet again
I sense a subtle (your words) tongue in cheek here that is virtually
indefensible by any rational process that cannot be twisted into
something not intended. So. I feel it very candid of Robert Pirsig to
advance his thoughts to Bodvar and allowing him to share them with the
group, knowing they would be (more than likely) misconstrued, and more,
I believe you feel the same way as evidenced by your presence here
despite your protestations to the opposite.
Anyway, I really have nothing more to add but thank you and best wishes.
Dan
