Not that we can presume to do any better. But we certainly can do just
as well by using the MOQ as the starting point, beginning with the
basic premise that the world is not split between mind and matter
(consciousness/substance),
Full agreement here
.....but between Dynamic Quality and stable patterns of value.
I would like to make the point that the world is not split at all and shows
no evidence but this division is in the individual and the intellectual
makeup of his society, but it is apparent that not all societies function
thus, I think our basic use of nouns to describe changing physical phenomena
as though they are fixed in time for eternity is worthy of extra attention.
the Native American Blackfoot, Ojibwa and Micmaq tribes had a process based
worldview which enabled them to go the whole day without ever communicating
a noun with no loss of comprehension.
...Let us acknowledge at the outset that we must accept division in order
to acquire linguistic (as opposed to artistic) understanding.
I think my above statement suggests that there may be alternatives to
accepting your premise.
Our language is so SOM
infected that one can hardly speak without violating MOQ premises.
One method might be to become aware of the "verb nature" of reality and
approach DQ this way, watching the nouns and absolutisms such as never and
allways etc.
This nerve-synapse prototype has
served the survival and procreation needs of a million creatures, from
bed bugs to grizzly bears, for millions of years, growing as the needs of
the organism grows and always acting in concert with other body forms
such as the digestive and reproductive organs.
But how have our human minds evolved over the years with changes in our
environment such as when we evolved to leave the sea? When did the division
in some cultures take place to make some cultures feel they were
single, apart and outside of nature able to look in objectively without
influencing the whole? The brain also has an annoying habit of damaging the
body it inhabits (re psychosomatic illness+placebo effects).
Now according to Pirsig, the world experienced, whether by worm or
wombat, includes Dynamic Quality-the creative life force-if for no
other reason than DQ pervades the environment.
Yet Pirsig evades talking of its physical reality and relation to quantum
physics, ignores nonlocality. I suppose that is our job though-cool.
A very interesting post i will come back to and comment further on when i
have more time
