friends....
I know this topic has been brought on many times in this forum: The
Environment; Our Biosphere; Planet Earth; Gaia; Mother Earth and every other
Dynamic or static term anyone cares to use to describe the mysterious
heritage of the Life that precedes, sustains and/or nutures our physical and
spiritual survival in this particular world of reality.
I have to say that I think that what Pirsig proposes in his MOQ must have
it's roots embedded in a thorough understanding of the quality of the Life
that sustains us.........that is to say I also know that if one truly does
have an understanding of a MOQ, then this respect for Gaia, etc should be a
common Foundation.
If the purpose of our species, or any (Quality) species for that matter,
and/or the purpose of Quality depends upon time and space to evolve, then it
is the duty of all to allow as much time and space as it takes to evolve this
Quality into the highest form we can, not forgetting the processes which
sustain our physical beings and allow us to evolve and ponder our evolution.
I know I personally have the tendency to get way ahead of myself (the curse
of a philosoper, maybe?)....and have come to believe that this is perhaps a
curse of humanity and its relentless and seemingly often uncontrollable
subconscious desire to strive for Life. Curses, of course, are these days
usually catagorized as a fictional reality. However, I think it has been
said, often, over the aeons, up until this present day, in some way or
another - that curses are blessings in disguise (check up on yer Joseph
Cambell, if'n he never said anything about it, I'm sure he thought about it
some).
And some of us are capable of walking and chewing gum at the same time.
In short, perhaps a Metaphysics of Gaia precedes a Metaphysics of Quality or,
if they are one in the same, the first steps to a realization of a MOQ is
perhaps a Gaia step.
thanks for the listen....
