Hi Marco and Platt,

Marco,

I agree with what you wrote too. I actually had written out something
similar to you in my first draft that added "facsists" and "greedy
capitalists" to the list of pet schemes that don't mesh well with the message
of the MOQ. However, I deleted it because I thought that Platt had
potentially misinterpreted two of my recent comments as directed harshly
toward him (The Thanksgiving joke and the debating of page 237 comment).
Actually NEITHER was intended negatively toward him (nor to you) , nor was
the deleted phrase...I just feared he might think it was.

>>Many here dramatically distort him to fit into their views.

I agree that this is inevitable and that we have vastly varying
interpretations. That is good. And I certainly agree with finding one's own
view. I certainly knowingly disagree with Pirsig in several areas. The point
I was trying to make here was grossly distorting without acknowledging it.
You are also right that it is a fuzzy line between interpretation and
dramatic distortion. I think we can approach the line though through the
dialectic process of a well thought out thread.

Finally, I do not by any means put you in the camp of those touting utopian
schemes or relativism nor did I intend to offend YOU with the turkey joke. I
was just being silly.

Now I get the impression I have twice managed to rub salt into both Platt and
your wounds. Neither was intended. Sorry though.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!
