Rog, all
thanks for your answer. Let me try my personal path....
> INFORMATION is a measure of the ability to influence reality.
I like it

Inorganic existence is discrete and patterned. We can call it Information or Inorganic Patterns of Value.
> Living things are advanced anti-entropic structures EMBODYING INFORMATION.
> Their form, function and pattern are information specifically focusing upon
> the continuance of information.
Yes, but then life becomes an and in itself, and information/InorgPOVs become a means, a tool in the hands of living entities. Life stores information as DNA.
> Natural selection is a self-generating search algorithm for novel patterns of
> information-embodiment (ie life) that leads to new experiences, capabilities,
> versatilities, anticipations, emotions and thoughts.
Natural selection.. or maybe it's better to say evolution?
> Society is information on how individuals can interact to preserve and create
> more information.
Society is a cooperation of living entities that becomes an end in itself. It thrives as social information have more Quality than biological information: a concept socially transmitted (meme) is more effective than a concept biologically transmitted (gene). I can learn how to avoid poisonous vegetables by means of a social transmission (communication) more rapidly than by means of biological transmission (inheritance). I can store such information in my culture more rapidly than in my genoma.
> The scientific method is a social process of information on how to best
> create more information -- more ability to influence reality.
More generally, I'd say that rituals (IMO scientific method is a developed form of ritual) are about how to best create and refine and store more information. According to my MOQ interpretation, rituality creates the self. Self-awareness is finally the basic intellectual pattern and it becomes an end in itself. Any investigation of reality (scientific, artistic or whatever else) is an investigation of the self:
taking data from universe and store information to answer the question: what am I.

Marco
