Yep. Corporate media is inane at best. I think our discussions here,
especially discussions that try to distinquish social and intellecutal
values, suffer greatly because of the misinformation provided by corporate
media. There's a pretty good media watch dog at http://www.fair.org/

non-corporate weekly news magazine you might try http://www.thenation.com/

There's a political show on FOX called "the beltway boys". Recently they
were talking about George W. Bush's rise in popularity in the wake of 9/11.
One of the pundits said his approval rating was so high because God is on
the side of the USA and everybody knows it. The other pundit agreed
immediately and whole-heartedly. I kid you not. This is what constitutes a
debate on FOX. This is the kind of dangerous stupidity that passes for
political analysis on FOX. I wept.

from what i have read it seems that the US corporate media is even more
controlled than australia's. for instance i understand that there is a new
mccarthyism re : WTC s11 dissent in the media and uni - scary. some european
newspapers have published articles asserting how unlikely it is that the
official version of s11 is actually the true one. Indymedia new york (
www.newyork.indymedia.org <http://www.newyork.indymedia.org> i think)
actually has an article by american nobel laureate toni morrison which lists
dozens of holes in the official line. for instance the company that made a
fortune from united airlines options was not arab or middle eastern but
american - its former chaiman is the executive director of the CIA - Buzzy
Kronberg i think).

those that profit from our ignorance
