I wholeheartedly agree that personal attacks have no place on this
forum. That's why I have taken John B. to task for his personal attack on
Roger. In John's view Roger is on a lower "personal development"
scale than David, Gav and others who see the U.S. as a colossal ogre.
Since I admitted to John that I could have misread his intent, I gave him
an opportunity to correct my mistake by putting Roger and others who
defend the U.S. on the same personal development and moral plane
as those who criticise. So far, he has refused.

Most U.S. citizens get their news from TV. There are three major
networks with nightly news and three cable networks with news 24
hours a day, all of whom are independently owned and fight for
audiences. Doesn't the government-sponsored BBC pretty much have
a monopoly on TV news in Britain? Anyway, you forgot to mention the
hundreds of local papers people read in the U.S., most of which cover
national and international news and which are not hesitant to air
differing views on their editorial pages.
I take no personal offense at your "despising corporate America" at all.
I think on balance that corporations have done more good than harm,
especially compared to what governments have done, but that's for
another day.
