Re: My list of facts to root out my "Orwellian distortions"
SQUONK:
I do not wish to involve myself with the test.
...this test may be a little polarising?
ROG:
Certainly I selected biased facts, but the reason I did it was that David,
Gav, Rod and you and others keep saying that those that disagree with them
have been brainwashed. My point is that this tactic seems like a cheap way
to lock out constructive dialogue and intellectual progress. It is very bad
form. By getting back to common sets of facts (of which alternatively biased
facts can certainly be added), we can eliminate much of any Orwellian
brainwashing that might (or might not) exist, and we can better understand
the nature of the conflict. However, what seems to be happening is that
those throwing out the *brainwashing/spin doctored/lost their bearings/can't
think for themselves* accusations are reluctant to actually address the issue
when given a chance.
As for Rob, who did graciously offer to grade the test,he suggests that the
Fox TV video of cheering Palestinians on 9/11 was a hoax. I have seen
multiple sources that corroborate it, but I guess I can't prove anything with
these. I will go ahead and concede the point to him, though I wonder if the
following sources of America hating are all manufactured as well?

On the question about indoctrinating kids in Palestinian schools to kill
jews, Rob writes...
"Here is where the self refectivity of this exercise comes into play. Are you
saying that you are free from bias as well. I'm shocked sometimes at the
brainwashing that has been going on around here."
This is an odd comment on a post which was dedicated to encouraging others to
root out my "brainwashing." Still, your attempt at establishing moral
equivalency of biased views with intentional attempts at creating a genocidal
population are sickening. There is a big gap between a biased media and
fomenting genocide.
He then writes the following on my fact that Saudi Arabia has praised the
extermination of 6 million Jews:
"That's awful. But connetating Anti-Israeli policy with anti-semitism is
useless. If you do, in order not to be anti-semitic, Israel can do no wrong.
Which pretty much gives it unrestricted right to do whatever they want and
accuse anybody who disagrees of anti-semitism."
I guess someone that isn't interested in resolving the issue could take this
dishonest route, but I think we can avoid this. I acknowledge that one can
disagree with Israel and not be antisemitic. However, I definitely believe
that those that DO PRAISE KILLING 6 MILLION JEWS ARE ANTI-SEMITIC.
Finally, when Rob interprets the Arab capability to build nuclear weapons as
a solution of mutually assured destruction, I think he misses the point that
the goal of Israel's neighbors isn't to have a lose/lose game theory
standoff, it is to USE IT.
