We have had many discussions here about the division between biological
and social in which many feel that some animals have moved over the
border into some low level social activities. In fact in 'common
language' there are all kinds of references to various 'social'
structures and organization of other animals. Ape tool making or use and
passing it on through training to offsprings come to mind as an example.

But I'm not suggesting particular candidates, though I'm sure there are
some people out there doing animal cognitive research who might suggest
that even though not technically "social" at some that in the future
there are 'good' candidates that might step over the line. Even if that
step is with human help. The point is that setting up a system which
supposedly takes into account "everything" that has a basic law or rule
which says, all patterns that survive in general tend to evolve to
higher levels and then to restrict two out of the four levels
exclusively for humans to me seems logically inconsistent and biased
toward Judeo Christian dogma. You know, the man's dominion over the
earth and all things on it stuff. Of course taking the other position
opens one up to criticism of anthropromophism and makes the "animal
rights" people ecstatic.
