Hey Scott,

This discussion is helping me figure out things-you have great questions.

>Scott:
My
>assumption was that there is more or less one
>destination, Quality, with many paths to get there
>(this is the diversity I expected). My surprise at
>the "diversity" (perhaps a poor choice of words after
>all) that I have found, was that there appears to be
>many destinations (the pointing in so many different
>directions), not my understanding of a monistic
>conception of reality!

ERIN: Good point, I see what you are saying now. We all have the same
endpoint in that we have the intellect as the highest level but as
intellectual individuals we have diverse ideas about the method do this.
MoQ seems to be ultimately a work in progress so we really don't have a set
endpoint or a how to guide in how to get there. From a previous thread I
learned that there is significant disagreement on what the intellect level
is---pretty much agreement on the other levels though.
I have been thinking about your comment- are we creating quality or is quality
creating us-- Is there a "plan" that is slowly unfolding ( we are figuring out
quality) or is it just a sketch and our input of what we decide is quality
taken into account.

>Scott:
>Collective morality, collective behavior elicits the
>image of a group of people acting in complete unison.
>As such it is the antithesis of diversity.
>Collectivism = one unified response. Diversity = a
>multitude of responses. There is no "out" only if we
>"relinquish our (individual) sovereignty.

ERIN: Well when collectivistic societies were compared with indivualistic
societies there was more conformity in collectivistic societies. So I grant
you that. But individualitic societies made the "fundamental attribution
error" and undesetimated the environmental influences. There is a romantic
"rugged individualism" strong here.
So I am trying to find a balance here where we recognize the importance of the
invididual and the environment the individual is in.
I guess my image is more like an orchestra. Each member is different but there
is harmony. Quality is the conductor.

Keep talking Scott, this helps a lot. How do YOU suggest protecting the
individual and the environment the individual is in.

Erin
