I've been following this role of language in reality discussion for a short while, and I don't really have much to say. My advice is to look at Pirsig's example of the stove in Lila: replace the burning stove with patterns of wave disturbances in the air (language), and you have a good explaination of the situation here.
Correct me if I'm wrong, or not interpreting something correctly, or if I'm off on a bad tangent.
