I'm not sure what your suggestion is, but the debate that's raging is about
whether language is a medium between the self and reality or not. I'm not
positive where I'd place Pirsig, but I'm pretty sure, as he shows both a
mystic side and neo-Kantian side, he'd say language is a medium of
expression or representation. I'm suggesting that we not do this, and that
we ignore the sections of Pirsig when he talks like this. I suggest we
read him as taking the "linguistic turn." Now, because of this, I'm not
yet sure how to read the mystic parts of Pirsig. I don't think they are
lost, but....
