DMB says:
The reasoning here is specious. It assumes that liberal
intellectuals are
identical to members of the Democratic party. In fact,
liberal intellectuals
are only a small faction within that party. The vast
majority of Democrats
are members because they benefit from liberal policies
and their affiliation
is often only a matter of self-interest. Labor, women,
minorites, you know.
In other words, the reasoning is specious because Paco
is comparing parties,
not ideologies, world views or levels of consciousness.
However, if you
compared the same kind of data and looked at the Green
Party, which is much
smaller, much less of a coalition of groups and is much
more demographically
monolithic, the results would be quite stark. I wonder
if such data is
available?

PACO:
DARN!! Sounds like we again see eye to eye. As I
wrote...

"My suspicion is that  socially-focused intellectual
elites -- those that manipulate theories to establish
themselves at the helm of society -- have indeed tended
disproportionately to be liberal extremists.  Those
that think for themselves are less likely to fall for
their ploy.  If this is at all true -- and it is
probably an oversimplification even if it is --  then
in MOQ terms, some of the recent follies of EXTREME
liberalism could be viewed as the prostitution of
intellectual values for social ends. "

In other words, I agree 100% with your conclusions.

Paco

PS -- Speaking of GREENS, have you ever read what
Wilber really thinks of liberal extremists? Have you
taken his GREEN test? (Actually you have, whether you
know it or not)
