Sorry, I have been traveling...
DMB:
Can biological values understand Social values? No,
they are excluded from
that. Its not possible for them to see the 3rd level.
Its beyond them. Its
not possible. The same rule applies at all levels.
Social values can't see
intellectual values either. In that sense I've made
claims about what is
excluded at the social level.
PACO:
Don't anthropomorphize political values. People are
conservative or liberal, intellectual or traditional,
and the combinations and blends are countless. You
believe that conservatives are incapable of recognizing
and embracing intellectual values. This was reinfoced
in your comments to Sam "liberal intellectuals have
what Conservatives have, but they have something
more." Your view reduces down to a political
stereotype which refuses to even extend basic human
capacity to those that disagree with you.
Many intellectuals are conservatives. There are
conservative mathematicians, economists, scientists,
philosophers, political scientists, etc. To imply the
opposite is either illogical or dishonest. Names are
available upon request. Please admit this mistake or
clarify your position.
In addition, there is an overwhelmingly strong
correlation between liberalism and low education and
between conservativism and graduate and post-graduate
degrees. High school drop-outs are 3 times as likely
to vote democrat as republican. As education, skill
and knowledge increase, people in the US become
consistently LESS liberal and less likely to vote
democratic. Care to explain that in light of
your "theory"?
My suspicion is that socially-focused intellectual
elites -- those that manipulate theories to establish
themselves at the helm of society -- have indeed tended
disproportionately to be liberal extremists. Those
that think for themselves are less likely to fall for
their ploy. If this is at all true -- and it is
probably an oversimplification even if it is -- then
in MOQ terms, some of the recent follies of EXTREME
liberalism could be viewed as the prostitution of
intellectual values for social ends.
Just a thought.
Paco
PS -- My argument isn't at all that liberals are less
intellectual, it is that David's theory on
conservatives as unenlightened anti-intellectual
Neanderthals is FUBAR.
PPS -- I will respond to you in detail post haste
