Squad:

I've been reading the back and forth debate concerning how best to
package MoQ and sell it to the masses. I can't think of a clearer
example of a social level of Quality, (the masses) devouring a higher,
intellectual level of Quality, (the metaphysics and the ideas
themselves). As the acceptance of the masses is of a lower evolutionary
level, it is rather useless or unnecessary to seek this acceptance, and
-- as Pirsig alludes to while contemplating whether or not to turn ZMM
into a movie -- is possibly immoral. As Horse said: "If Quality and
Morality are to be dismissed as subjective new age crap by much of our
intended audience, then our intended audience can collectively screw
itself." Right on!

In ZMM, Pirsig writes: "You want to know how to paint a perfect picture?
It's easy. Make yourself perfect and then just paint naturally." If you
want to convince people you've discovered the best, (I won't say perfect
because I doubt that term could apply to everybody under every
condition) metaphysics, make yourself the best, (according to it's
guidelines, assumptions, contentions) and then just live naturally. I
think the most persuasive arguement one can offer is the Quality of
one's life. People will figure it out eventually. And if they don't,
well, see Horse's above quote.
