but i will leave you with this..Vygotsky said that the complex
socio/intellectual functions are separate from the survival/pragmatic skills
of animals, but the distinction is through the use of tools (language being
considered a tool) and together they combine into the ability to think about
something before you do it.
Although he lived in the 1920-30s his ideas are still being kicked around for
good reasons.
He also thought up that part above about people being able to handle info one
level up from what they currently know (called it the zone of proximal
development).
