Hi All

My vote is for morality (at last) for next months topic of discussion

May I make a suggestion though, regarding our approach as to how the MoQ can
be used to formulate a coherent, plausible and workable moral system.
There is little point in taking a great number of individual cases and seeing if they
each fit within the MoQ framework - the inductive approach. What we need to do
is formulate general principles (including AND beyond those provided by Pirsig)
such that most actions may be deduced to be right or wrong from the general
principles - the deductive approach. In formulating an ethical system based on the
MoQ it would also be useful if there was some idea of previous ethical systems
so a quick read about some of these systems wouldn't go amiss. The main ones
are:
Benthamite Utilitarianism (Pleasure and Pain)
Millsian Utilitarianism (the greatest good for the greatest number)
Communitarianism (Rights of society)
Virtue theory (Neo-Aristotelianism, Arete, Excellence etc.)
Deontology (Duty)
Rights-based Ethical Systems

There's more but some of you should spot the obvious correlations between the
above systems and the 4 levels. You can also pick up an awful lot from the 'net.

It was what got written down.
It was as simple as that!"
