Dear Buff & Davor,
Buff wrote 11/11 18:22 +0000:

If versatility is a characteristic of a static p.o.v. the likelihood is that
it values a precondition of high quality. (otherwise it would be gone in a
flash)
The closer to DQ that SQ is, the higher its value, as this will foster
simplicity and ease of explanation.'
I am not following you entirely, I fear. I also fear that you are using
'pattern of values' as an object in the SOM-sense: as something that can
HAVE value instead of BEING value.
Maybe it helps if I explain what I mean with the stability and versatility
of patterns of values. The distinction arose in the 'Overdoing the
dynamic'-thread back in december 2001, when Roger asked us 'What do the
patterns of higher quality have that those of destruction, decay and
disorder don't?'. (Yes, that question could have been better phrased -less
SOMish-, too.) 'Stability' describes for me the static aspect of a pattern
in our experience and 'versatility' the dynamic aspect. Their balance and
harmony with higher level patterns of values 'defines' their relative
Quality (the Quality that has/is them, not the value they have).
With friendly greetings,
Wim
