This I think is exactly how we who are looking for practical applications must go about it, apply Quality to ourselves, baby steps indeed!
I'm currently looking into the teachings of J. Krishnamurti and this is some of what he had to say on the subject:
" When you start very near :
We generally start with the farthest - the supreme principle, the greatest ideal, and get lost in some hazy dream of imaginative thought. But when you start very near, with the nearest, which is you, then the whole world is open, for you are the world, and the world beyond you is only nature. Nature is not imaginary: it is actual; and what is happening to you now is actual. From the actual you must begin - with what is happening now - and the now is timeless."
I personally am quite pleased with the way the discussion is going now, I'm even able to get my head around some of what is being said.
Keep it up Mari I'm barracking for you!
Mari says: : ) i have enjoyed much of what J. Krishnamurti has to say about 'life'. When he says: "We generally start with the farthest - the supreme principle, the greatest ideal, and get lost in some hazy dream of imaginative thought." i see myself many times along the way drunk with knowledge making a fool of myself with lofty notions of what is and what will never be. But thankfully something or someone yanks me back down out of the ether to look once again for balance need to be practical.
Some years ago i took what is often referred to as a " Personal Growth Seminar " ( i've taken several ) The one i'm thinking about in the moment taught a simple practical method of "living in integrity". It's a baby step,it is the practice of what JK means when he says: "But when you start very near, with the nearest, which is you, then the whole world is open, for you are the world, and the world beyond you is only nature. " This is just one example; there are many. "Put everything back where it belongs" If you take milk from the refrig. Put it back when you are done. If you put something in your cart at the grocery and you find something you want in it's stead then bring the first item back where you got it. Maybe this sounds too simple or maybe some thinks "how stupid". But i suggest that you do this for a while. Let it seep into, become a part of who you are. And in a very real way the integrity of that will lend itself to looking at more things through the integrity filter. i found that not only did it not compromise my time like i might have claimed it would ( rote defense ) ( i don't have the time for something that someone else is paid to do) but it actually seemed that i was less hurried. It didn't matter that anyone knew what i was doing because i knew what i was doing,it became it's own reward. That is in my way of seeing it a MoQ act. If i am a good parent, a good teacher, a good friend, then i would want to share this MoQ method of doing life with others. If they align themself with the belief that a quality of life act (baby step) adds to the collective consciousness in a positive way, then that act is ALL they can do in any given moment. They can rest assured that they did their part. The next step is share the info....stop trying, start doing.
If there is any truth whatsoever in the adage that The Pen is Mightier than the Sword then let us now turn our attention and intention towards the nature of the beast and cut out all the crap. Quit wasting time and remember to floss!
Happy New Year!
