Matt and Glenn, I agree with both of you that Pirsig takes a swipe at certain aspects of
science and in doing so sets himself up for some hefty criticism. I have no problem with
criticism of Pirsig and the MoQ for this even if I disagree with the content of such
disagreement.
But my point is that while it is entirely valid to criticise science, a point with which you
both seem to agree, criticizing aspects of science and belittling science are entirely
different things.
If someone makes a claim of this sort and then refuses to back it up because the claim
was false and knowingly so then this is intellectual dishonesty of the worst sort. A smear
campaign in other words.
