    Hi John M:

Your condemnation of Horse as "belligerent," "bullying," "simplistic,"
"disconnected," "unsophisticated," "offensive, "insulting," and "semi--
literate" is a classic case of the pot calling the kettle black. For
someone who claims to dislike personal attacks, you don't hesitate to
engage in it when it suits your purpose. Where I come from that's called
    "hypocrisy."

Horse is challenging Glenn (as I have often challenged others) to give
some evidence for what Glenn says Pirsig stands for. Without such
evidence, Glenn's and anyone's views merely add to the general
intellectual pollution which abounds on the Internet. To refer a challenger
to prior posts is not an acceptable response, for who among us can
claim our "body of work" is worth someone looking it up and reading
    again?

We have Horse to thank for keeping this site available to all who are
willing to engage in intelligent conversation and debate without getting
all huffy and self-righteously offended when someone asks for
clarification of a point or evidence to back up an assertion. Despite the
time and effort he puts into it, Horse maintains the site for us free of
charge and without complaint. Rather than heaping abuse on him, you
ought to show him some gratitude. If you don't like it and think you can
do better, create your own site. At least, stop whining.

    Platt
