A bit offtopic, but his name ist Jonathan.

Absoluties exist only in our minds, especially in fields like maths or pure
logic, e.g. closed mental systems. And that also means, that these absoluties
can exist (theoretically) also in a metaphysics, while they can't in the
referred subject, so outside the brains or the mind of the one who is thinking.
Aside of this, I don't think Pirsig considers his MoQ as being absolute in the
whole or in parts. My main point is, that DQ as a central term in this whole
system doesn't allow any absoluties. What today seems to be certain, may
tomorrow be uncertain or even overthrown, like for instance the correction of
Newtons axioms by Einstein (classical example hereabouts).
Furthermore Pirsigs MoQ says (IMO), that people may very well revolve around the
best solution, but we get nearer to the center of that circle. In other words we
are not moving in circles around a defined center - which cannot be known
beforehand and will never be known exactly - but we are moving in spirals
towards better and better solutions, towards quality. That means, that the
longer mankind strives for the Good, the lesser any recontextualizing (as you
put it) is necessary, whererever on the world we live or who we are.
Mental evolution as a part of evolution in general; reaching and/or finishing
the 4th level ( seen on the basis of Pirsigs MoQ).
