I think you have done much the same by completely ignoring my first
sentence above. You also ignored the rest of my post (the one that
started this "No to absolutism" thread. That being the case, DON'T YOU
THINK YOU ARE BEING JUST A TINY BIT OF A HYPOCRITE???
I don't know ho many kilobytes there are in Lila and ZAMM together, but
I bet that you have personally posted many, many more kilobytes than
that. I'd have no problem if you matched Pirsig's level, but IMHO your
voluminous contributions (e.g. 83 kbytes so far this weekend) contain
little of value - quantity rather than quality. That's what makes your
    insult all the more insulting.

    DMB says:
Hypocrite? I don't think so. I made the point that we ought to ignore
insults and that's exactly what I did. I think your accusation (That my
contributions here are designed to serve my ego) is invalid and irrelevant.
Its just a personal insult, not a real idea. You can't possibly know what
motivates me to post and it wouldn't matter even if you could. The only
thing that matters is the content of the post. Is it true or not? Its not
about me or my ego. Again, my point was that such things ought to be
ignored. I did not respond to the rest of your post for unrelated reasons. I
just didn't find it very compelling or interesting. I mean, if I had all the
time in the world, I'd answer every post, but in the real world one is
forced to make choices about where to spend time and energy. But since you
mentioned it I looked at it again. It seems that your assertion falls apart
because you've failed to make the distinction between what a doctor ought to
do and what is technically possible. There's a huge difference between one
who can't and one who won't. And finally, there's the issue of the quality
and quantity of my post. I don't know what to say. There's no accounting for
taste. I recieve both praise and insults in response to the very same posts.
The praise feels nicer, but is equally irrelvant. Feel free to print and
burn my posts if you like. It doesn't matter. If you'd like to have a
conversation about some issues, that'd be fine, but I don't really see why
you felt it necessary to use a personal attack on me as an introduction your
thoughts on absolutism. Seeing it isolated like that in a thread that I
hadn't even posted in yet seemed particularly mean spirited. And you want me
to apologize? Last time we talked you called me a bigot, an anti-semite. In
both cases I wasn't even talking to you. And you want me to apologize? OK.
Sorry my face got in the way of your fist. Are you alright? I certainly
didn't mean to bruise your knuckles. Send me the bill and I'll take care of
    it.

I don't deny that you occasionally produce something worthwhile. The
biggest irony is that I align strongly with your liberal socialist
outlook; in the "political compass" test, I found myself closer to you
than anyone else. That makes me all the more uncomfortable to see you
use rambling and flawed rationalizations to support the cause.

    DMB says:
Rambling and flawed? If you sincerely want a response to that charge, which
seems like just another couple of insults, you'd have to be more specific. I
don't really see how your political sympathies are relevant or why this is
    "ironic".

    Courteously yours,

    DMB says:
If that's your idea of courteous, I'd hate to see you get rude.
