(The third is that it is possible to overcome attachment, and the fourth is the method of doing so, called the eight-fold path.) It is the case that methods to escape (e.g., seeking material success, drugs, television) do evince attachment, but one could argue that the eight-fold path is an attempt to escape suffering, one that works. In any case, attachment is the cause, suffering is the result, so learn detachment.
