My impression is the opposite, that it is the less adept mystics that lose
touch, that go into trances and such. As the Zen story goes: "Before,
mountains are mountains and rivers are rivers. During, mountains are not
mountains, and rivers are not rivers. After, mountains are mountains and
rivers are rivers, but your feet are a foot off the ground."
