    Dear David,

Your writing is always concise and thought provoking, and the message
written at 02:35 PM 11/27/2004 -0700 is no exception. I most always agree
with you. It would be impossible for me to state better arguments.

But, I'd like to clearly state my pov.

    I am an atheist.

I am 100% Pro-Choice, yet 100% horrified by the idea of abortion. A woman
should have the right to decide what happens to her own body. I think
that abortion should be addressed as an educational issue, rather than a
moral issue. Contraception and education can prevent most abortions.

I think gay couples need some of the same legal rights that married couples
have, but I think marriage itself is a failed institution. I've been
married twice, and in both cases marriage did more harm to the relationship
than bond it. What is the divorce rate today? 50%? 60%? What is the
history of marriage? Isn't it an institution for control? I think gay
couples should think long and hard of what they're asking when they insist
on the legal right to marriage.

I am a Feminist. I've already stated my beliefs that a culture that
worships only the masculine principle is doomed to destruction. But of the
fatherland, patriarchal family values and soft-headed woman, I will respond
after a little more thought. I've been on many sides of these
issues. Maybe slicing and dicing will be required, maybe ranting, but
either way I need to clarify.

Thanks for a really interesting and challenging email.
